2007 Season Season Opener Wed April 11th 2007

Opening Night of the 2007 Industry Speedway season brought the debut of Handicap racing to the facility, but only one rider went home victorious as Buck Blair scored a double main event victory.

The first three seasons at Industry Speedway only featured scratch racing in the top division.  The first meeting of the 2007 season brought handicap racing to the venue for the first time.  Former Youth National Champion Jimmy Fishback, who missed the 2006 season due to an injury, was the initial leader of the Handicap Main Event.  Blair passed "Cowboy" Bobby Krips for second and hunted down Fishback.  Entering turn three on lap five Fishback went wide and the Colorado native went by on the inside and led the final lap for the victory.  Fishback was second, Krips finished third, Shawn McConnell was fourth, Shaun Harmatiuk finished fifth, and Mike Faria was sixth.

Blair started on the pole in the Scratch Main and entered turn one evenly with 2006 Industry Track Champion Charlie Venegas who started from the outside.  Blair held his inside line on the back straight while Venegas surged ahead on the outside.  Blair was able to pull even on the exit of turn four and held a slight advantage as they entered turn one.  Blair's line proved to be better as he extended his lead while Venegas was left to battle Gary Hicks for second.  Blair was first to the checkered flag, Hicks passed Venegas to finish second, and Shaun Harmatiuk finished a distant fourth.

Vince Giamformaggio led all four laps to capture the Second Division Main Event.  Rudy Laurer was second, Ian Foulds finished third, and Bryan Buffington was fourth.

Phillip Harmatiuk dominated his heat and ran away with the Third Division Main Event on his first night in the professional ranks.  Rick Farron was second, Yoshi Sato finished third, Robert Glamuzina was fourth, Mike Lane finished fifth, and Danny Baker was sixth.

Joey Holt scored an impressive win in the Youth First Division Main Event with Jason Ramirez finishing second and Russell Green finishing third.

Dylan Black and Brad Pappalardo waged an exciting four-lap battle in the Youth Second Division Main Event.  Black, riding the outside would pull ahead on the straights with Pappalardo gaining the advantage in the corners.  Black entered the final corner with a slight lead.  Pappalardo made one last attempt on the exit of the turn, but Black was declared the winner by the narrowest of margins.  Rocco Scopellite finished third, Braydan Galvin was fourth, and Major Davis finished fifth.

Eddie Tafoya overcame a 50 yard handicap to win the Pee Wee Main Event.  Elijah Hicks finished second, Ryan DeLong was third, and Bryson Galvin finished fourth.

The Season Opener kicked off the 22-meeting season for Industry Speedway.  The meetings will be held every Wednesday through September 12 with the exception of July when the venue will shift to Saturday night events.
